2017-2018 Budget Review
Income
Active Fundraising
-decreased carnival to $38,000 due to construction possible decrease in rides
-decreased dine outs
-Jen recommended coordinating with Ray's pizza for the talent show
-Stopped Kinder coffee cart, but may want to start if they have kinder only flag next year
-Popsicles sales did great
-Spirit wear not changing logos so may not increase sales
-mother son event will be at an off site location due to construction
-Springfest will be at a local brewery to make it easier
Passive Fundraising
-Amazon associates and Amazon smile are 2 separate things. Lindsey recommends taking Associate off budget and just having Smile. Income last year was from Smile only
-Padre tickets were questioned if we should keep it with low turn out. They will think about it. Debbie said maybe timing was part of it since baseball/softball do the same thing.
-Schoola still do not have final numbers from September
-Schoola is too much work for 1 person, may do bags again it was easier. Lindsey looked into Goodwill doing it, but could not find anything in San Diego
-Other was Cheese Crisps and Musical/plays
PTO Activities
-Wave Fund the same
-No movie night
-Picnic in the Park: DJ is the only expense.
-Will use the same DJ for all events this next year
-Donuts with Dads and Muffins with Moms are under activities. Will do both again since had such a good turn out.
-Boo Hoo will be in the same category as above two
-Staff lunch for teacher appreciation week will only be Friday

-Field Trip Scholarship not been used but will leave on budget
-PTO shirts can re-order or keep same as last year? Decided we will all get 1 new shirt
Teacher Supplies
-Teacher shirts: do we buy only for new staff members? Will let teachers know same logo if they want to order they can
DEADLINES**
-Definitive deadlines at school per Mr. Klimas. Will tell teachers at teacher meeting.
-Cherveny said it is hard when kids bring forms to class and teachers do not know all the deadlines.
-Vicki B. recommended all PTO stuff being put in the black box instead of going to classrooms, but there were concerns about money making it into the box
-It was suggested to get a program so parents could pay for things online
-It was agreed that we need better communication with the teachers regarding deadlines
Classroom
-district is paying for DIRT
-start up gift cards are $50 per teacher. There is one less teacher this year
-Debbie reminded everyone that teachers need to save all receipts for any reimbursements from Apex this year.
Equipment
-increased PE/Playground to get signs etc updated
Instructional supplies
-increased art supplies
-Art surplus will do art experience again with grade levels.
-Requested that Mrs. Moreau communicate to teachers at meeting difference between teacher art support and art docent
-teacher art support: not teaching just support in classroom
-art docent: goes into class and teaches when Mrs. Foley is not.
-money to choir but wanted to know exactly what it is spent on.
Salary Donation
-all same
-district is still paying for Mr. Ball
Student Programs
-reading incentives increased
-student council increased to allow them to get a new camera and card for the old one
-Cherveny discussed student councils presence on campus. She would like them to be more Ambassadors
-Requested getting student council shirts or lanyards. Recommended to start with student council lanyards this year and then budget shirts for the next school year.
LeeAnne is working on the the surplus finalization.
Dates
-Class lists are posted Friday Aug. 18th at 5pm
-Kinder orientation is Friday Aug. 18th at 3pm in Cafeteria
-Carnival meeting Sept. 6th at 8:45am. It will be every Wednesday until carnival.
-Teacher meeting on 8/17. Want to make sure that they go through the categories and titles for classroom support are clear.
-Discussed birthday popsicle coupons. Parents can pre-buy for the class through Stephanie. The coupons will be handed out as kids leave the class.
-If Jen Ellis stops Facebook, Carolyn Gallup offered to take over.
-Discussed possibly showing the PTO video in the classrooms to get it to a wider audience.
